One reason the term is deliberately confusing is pg has never attempted to label this type of angel investment. Hoping every time this type of angel investment YCombinator is mentioned.

Bootup Labs in vancouver is very critical of this term. They adamantly stick to the word 'accelerator'. {try telling that to their last round of investments}
