Original Unix didn't support dynamic linking (despite having already been invented), and for some purists it was a mistake to add support for it. Plan 9 refused to add support for it. Dynamic linking is not some kind of holy principle.

Perhaps, but dynamic linking solves a very important set of problems (Speed, storage, memory, bandwidth, ...etc).
