Why would they want to hand out subsidized consoles to people who aren't going to pay for games to run on them? The only way it would make sense for them to let you run Linux would be if "Linux" was a game they sold for $300 (or whatever the difference is between the hardware cost and the console sale price -- I'm guessing wildly here).
